Frame spacing problem - fixes?

Discussion in '35mm Cameras' started by The Bill Mattocks, Sep 1, 2003.

  1. I just got an old Diax IIb rangefinder camera with a
Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 50mm f2.8 lens (interchangeable) and it
appears to have a frame-spacing problem. Ran two rolls of color print
film through it, and I can clearly see that some frames are dead on
accurate, some are too widely spaced, and several are too closely
    spaced.

I've never had a camera with this problem before. Since I saw the
same problem on two consecutive rolls of film, I don't think I am
loading the film incorrectly, and there does not appear to be any
    pattern to the bad spacing.

Anyone have any idea what can be done about this? Does anyone still
work on Diax rangefinders anymore (circa 1955 or so)?

My scans show that the images that this lens produces are pretty nice
    - I'd like to get the camera working reliably, but not pay a fortune
for it. I'd appreciate any advice!

    Best Regards,

My Minolta SRT101 does this, but it hasn't been a problem for me.
Sometimes the space between frames is very small, othertimes a millimeter
or more. But the space is always there and thats what matters...
