I think it's that a storyboard shows the sequence of shots in chronological
order, but a shooting list shows them in some other order. Eg, a shooting
list might group by location and may be further ordered within that (like,
shoot the scenes with the goodie and baddie doing battle before you blow the
set up in the spectacular ending sequence).

That's the 3rd time you've come out with this crap. The past 2 times I
proved you were lying. Where is *your* proof?

Well, it's not what I would call a shooting list....

A shooting list will be a list of scenes and shot required for each
scene, along with a synopsis of the script and the actors / props used
for each scene (along with any notes, such as hand held, steady-cam,
H&S problems etc.), the shots might well not be in the same order of
    the storyboard.

The function of the shooting list is to plan for the most efficient
use of the camera / time etc., you might well be shooting the opening
scene and the very last scene next to each other for example, if you
are only shooting in one location and on one day then you probably
don't really need a shooting list (schedule).

In Wally's case, he's wanting to find out what is good for him,
myself, i'm far more creative using a computer than i am with pencil
    and paper.

As i enjoy making comic books i find the best way for me to plan out a
film is usually with a script done on a word processor which i can
then bring in 'cartoon strips' off how i want the camera shots to look
    at.

Alot of these sadly never get made, but its good fun creating them,
and they remain nice and easy to edit if i ever go back and find i
have the right people, and the time to realise my ideas.

I also feel that the added advantage of using a computer is that you
can define objects to bring into each scene when needed, and of course
copy and paste functions, something that is much harder to achieve on
    paper.
I use a storyboard to give me direction when filming, and also to give
an indication on the feel of a film before setting out to film it

What information appears in our individual storyboards, and how we
arrange them is up to us and cannot be globally defined, surely?

He usually runs away in a sulk and materialises a month later. ;)

Personally i do find Jerry's posts quite informative it's just a shame
he follows them up with such aggresive gusto that offends everyone. :(

Yeah, where you gonna find all those m&m's to stick on the stones? ;)

Seriously though, the only way that really differs to what i do is
have rough timings for each shot (I don't use colour either... thats
    sooooo this century:)

I find that once i've been working on a storyboard for quite a while
it cements itself in my head and i don't usually need it by the time i
go out to film (That is with stuff where i'm doing it all myself).

  7. A storyboard shows the film in sequence. A shooting list shows a
convenient order for shooting the scenes. A shooting list tends to be
    more technical than a storyboard.

I wondered that at one time. If it were true, then one (or other) must
have been talking to himself in my kill-file :)

  11. I can't say that I personally have ever come across a "shooting list". A
"shooting schedule" and a "shot list", yes - different but similar, pre and
    post.

The last time this came up you accused Dave and me of being the same
person, whilst trying to deflect from the fact that you were in the
process of being proved wrong - and guess what you are trying to do
    yet again....

Morgan, you are a liar and a troll.

Many thousands of people must use that spam trap address, it was set
up by the owners of the privacy.net domain as a spam trap address and
    made it public

For goodness sake guys, I thought you were all supposed to be net savvy.
Do a google search on and you'll get thousands of people
using it. The owner of the domain has given his permission for anyone to
use the address for the purposes of anti-spam.

Well I don't want to get into a pissing match with you, but I was around
a long time before you. I've only been using "" for a
year or two when I changed news servers.
Sure thing: Message Id <[email protected]>

I really like the bit where you say:-
And yet google doesn't show anything like that, as I showed.

Now I'll ask again, where's your proof? If you have any, I'm man enough
    to apologise.
Au contraire, I was actually glad to be in your kill file. No doubt
I'll be back in there if you can't "win" this debate, which is why you
put me there in the first place.
That's true, he does do that. And so do you. But at least Jerry never
accused you of adding more colons to get out of his killfile.
Nothing worse than cantankerous old men at the wheel, eh Tony!

If you bothered to check Google, you would see that I've been in this
group longer than you have [1], you were an obnoxious plank when you
arrived upon the scene as you are today, did you vote for the creation
of the group at the CFV's or were you still bogged down in arguing the
toss with experts on rec.video ?...

[1] My first record on Google seems to return a date for about the 15
    Feb 2001
Tony seems to have made his first post to the group around the 13 Feb
    2002

    'nough said....

The reason i asked was the nature of your reply, i can't see why you
should get so upset with Tony when he was arguing with Jerry.

I understand how the privacy.net domain works, but it occured to me
that maybe you had a profile at home and one at work and i never
realised you were the same person, not that you are the same person
    trying to disguise it.

Levels of annoyance aside, I called Tony up on his accusation that Jerry
had recently changed his posting name to get out of Tony's kill file.
That struck me as odd, so I checked google and saw that Jerry hadn't
changed anything. Tony then repeated the accusation some months later, so
I called him on it again. And now this is the third or forth time he's
    done it.

A very simple google search showed that Jerry hadn't changed his posting
name, so I don't understand why Tony would claim and still claims that he
    did.

If it had been the other way round, I would have challenged Jerry. I have
    an equal opportunities bullshit detector.
