My wife's looking around the £130 for a holiday camera. I'm thinking the
Fuji Finepix F50 FD may fit the bill, but before she spends my hard earnt
cash, does anyone on here have any bad points about this camera ?

No bad points. The good point is that it uses a larger than normal
(for a digital camera) sensor. This gives much better performance and
especially low noise - even at higher ISO settings.

If you can find an F41fd, an F40fd or even an F30, these have even
better low noise performance because they have fewer pixels crammed on
to the same size of sensor, and you don't need 12 million pixels in a
compact digital camera. They should also be cheaper to buy, as they
    have been discontinued.

The F40fd and F41fd have 8.3 MP and the F30 has 6.3 MP.

Slight correction there. In the UK there was never a F41fd, but there
was a F31fd, and of all of them the 31 was arguably the best. It was the
    F30 with face detection added.

The F40fd was pink and you bought it anywhere, the F45fd was blue and
from Argos only, and the F47fd was silver and from DSG outlets only, but
they were all the same camera inside.

I have a F47fd and it is brilliant for party shots with the face
detection working (although setting it active is easy to overlook.) From
a picture quality standpoint in daylight I prefer my Ixus60. The Ixus 70
is still around at the right price and is very similar to the 60 but
with added face detection and a bigger screen. If buying now I know
    which I would choose.

I have the 31fd and am very pleased with it. I also have the waterproof
case which is good not just for diving but for on the beach and generally
    larking about in the water.

How much can I expect to pay for a waterproof case ? Are they model specific
? I really fancy being able to take pictures whilst snorkelling.
