OK, Ive decided not to go for the Minolta D7 after seeing the price-tag.
    I'm a notch below a hobbyist.
In film world my Minolta Dynax 3xi served me well (apart from its size),
and could cope with my modest demands quite well.

I'm guessing the Fuji FinePix S7000 is in the same ballpark for digital
    (maybe even a bit better)?

Mainly I want great point'n'shoot (auto mode), Good indoor performance,
enough features should I decide to expand my limited photo-taking
repetoire, and a movie mode (including audio) that is not just a marketing
gimmick. Although I do have a camcorder for the latter!

I've had the s7000 for about 3 months now and it is a pretty damn good
    camera.
Do a google for the s7000 reviews. All reviews I have seen have been very
    positive.
