Fuji S602/S7000 handgrip problem

Discussion in 'Fuji' started by Fedman Kassad, Jul 14, 2004.

  1. I dont know if this was asked before on the NG and if so I apologize, but this
issue is so weird it verges on malfunction to me: after using my S602Z even for
only a few minutes, I can smell a strong chemical-like odor coming from the
camera's handgrip and also from my right hand that was holding the camera
(doh!). To immediately rule out jokes about my personal hygene or weird places
where I could have put my hands, I'd say that the smell comes all the time,
despite handwashing method or soap brand.
If anybody could please tell me if this is somewhat "normal" for these cameras,
I'll greatly appreciate it, otherwise I'll have to call Fuji customer service
and tell them their cameras stink, literally (ok, you can laugh now).

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Happy stinkin' away y'all!!

There used to be a perfume which, according to the marketeers, reacted with
each woman's individual body chemistry to produce a (hopefully pleasant)
scent which was unique to her. I suppose something like this might be
affecting you: you smell fine, the camera smells fine, but together, well,
    grab the air-sickness bag!

Unless, of course, the chemical odor you perceive actually smells like
day-old sushi. In that case, the odor is probably due to a Fujifilm worker
who came back from lunch and forgot to wash his hands. Or else Fuji put out
a special Bento-Box edition for domestic distribution and one was
    accidentally exported.

    Smell ya' later! :)

I wondered who got the one I put fish guts in on the assembly line! ;-)

  6. Ok, thanks for your experiences and the laughs too. :D

I'm going to try have somebody else (talk about guinea pig) use the camera to
see if they too get the Smelly Hand Of Doom ("SHOD" © 2004 Fuji/FDKS), to rule
out any incompatibility between my hands' perspiration and the camera handgrip.
I'll also try to use it with disposable alkalines next time I go out shooting,
in case the problem comes from the rechargeable's chemical reactions.

    Bye Stinkers...
