    hi

    i have a fujifilm s602 zoom (about 12 months old) with a 1GB MD and 128MB SM
card. the other day i went to turn the camera on and the back screen just
went fuzzy and the camera failed to turn on.

i thought at the time it must be batteries, so i changed the batteries.
same thing. sometimes the lens comes out about 2cm before the camera shuts
    off.

just trying to get it onto playback mode results in a a flash of white on
the screen before the camera is dead again.

i have tried it with a different MD, all cards out, all cards in, just MD,
just SM card etc. All the time it is the same.

Does anyone know if this is a common fault with the S602 or if it will be a
time to claim for a new camera on the insurnace?

    cheers

    b

Was the camera exposed to any temperature or humidity extremes for a long
time? If it was, maybe you should leave it at normal room temprerature for
several hours and try again. If not, it sounds like a failure. If you hae
extended warranty then I'd get it checked.
