Fuji S7000 Media Questions

Discussion in 'Fuji' started by Brian Edwards, Apr 28, 2004.

  1. I recently bought a Fuji S7000 but am a little confused with the media
    options;
The manual says it takes both xd and Microdrive, but I also read that it
    takes xd and Compactflash II.

Question 1 - Is Microdrive the same as Compactflash II?
Question 2 - I inserted a compactflash I card from another camera and it
worked OK, so can I use this also?
Question 3 - So what is the difference between I and II and are they
    backward compatible?

Yes - you kinda answered that yourself

    Pass.

I think there is a limitation of 2GB for the Fuji as it does not
    recognise anything bigger

    Hi,

So CF I and II is not the same CF I is slimmer than II
and CF I cards always compatible with CF II slots but nto backwards
Microdrive's interface is the same as CF II's
CF II is a falsh memory woithout and moving parts while Microdrive is an ATA
like winchester so it has moving parts
You can always use Microsdrive in CF II slots and backward

And that 2 Gigabyte is also true but that is another story its independent
    of the card types

So That Fuji camera is using Fat16 file system and not ompatible with FAT32
and because FAT16s biggest available drive size is 2 gigabytes thats why it
cannot handle drives bigger than 2 gigabytes
