Long time photographer (OK I'm old) requires help/info for scanning 35mm
slides and producing prints. I'm new into computers so be gentle.

    What kind of help?

You'll need a reasonably fast computer, 800MHz and up, a minimum of 256M
ram, a 40G hard drive to keep scanned images on, a scanner, and software
to scan. Then a photo quality printer. A CD burner would be nice to
    permanently store your finished images.

Canon, Nikon, and Minolta make film scanners. They are better, IMHO,
than flatbeds because they are scanning first generation media, the film.

Canon, Epson, Lexmark, and H-P male photo printers.

There are a lot of scanning programs out there. I like Adobe Photoshop
Elements 2.0. I am trying Vuescan which seems to be pretty good and
    well priced.

    Good luck.
