I have an Aver EZ DVD Card with a 1.0 gig Celeron PC and I am trying
to capture video from VHS and Hi 8 tapes. Unfortunately I am getting
a few seconds of nice video then the image degrades to horizontal
lines followed by more nice video. Aver sent me NeoDVD 5.0 to solve
problem but it doesn't. I believe it's hardware problem. I have AGP
with minimum 8mb. Do I need better AGP card or better capture card?
Is Dazzle any good? I'm limited in what I can spend. Any advice?

  2. I'm guessing that the problem may be your hardware. Celeron's are kind
of slow. Don't know how much memory you have, but if you're running
something like 128k or 256k you might consider getting more. The hard
drive might be having trouble keeping up, too. Wouldn't hurt to defrag
it, and do anything you can to tune the performance of your PC.
Obviously turning off any other running programs will help. Is it
possible to lower the resolution you capture at so you don't have to
write as much to the drive?
