Hewlett Packard has filed an obscurely-worded patent with the US patent
office for a widget which will block digital cameras from taking
pictures of people -- only of course if said camera is equipped with a
corresponding HP "no take my mug shot please" thing-a-ma-bob:

.....and what a complete load of bollocks it is, too.

This is a joke, right? What's the date?

  4. If you follow the link in the original post, it includes a link to the
published patent application at the USPTO site. There are at least
three dates listed there - original GB filing, US filing, and
publication. Which did you want to know?
    patent

If you think that one is obscurely worded, you obviously have not read
    many patent applications.

Is that a reference to being able to patent this kind of idea, or is it
a reference to the idea itself? If it is a reference to the idea, I
assume you have actually read the patent application rather that just
basing your opinion on what has been posted here.

    A rather clever idea.
