Hmmm... DVD is only 540 horizontal resolution (according to the EIA)

    (1) This is a public forum. It's NOT your space, anymore than the
    downtown square is your space..

    (2) I've been posting on Usenet since 1988 (back when computers were
only a few kilobytes worth of RAM). I don't need some Newbie like you
telling me what I can or can not do.

    (3) On Usenet, without a face or voice to judge a person, all we have
is our Manners. You leave the impression of a 12-yr-old.

No, dipshit. When you come into OUR group, top posting like a
fucking Usenet retard, you ARE invading our space, regardless of
whether your retarded ass feels you have a right to or not.

You are an interloper, at best.
    Oh Boy! I'm impressed! Nope.
Not a newbie, dipshit. You must be, however, since you think this
is an e-mail forum. I'm surprised that you haven't attempted to post
    HTML.
In Usenet, you don't even get 15 seconds of fame, asshole. Oh, and
you can bet that you are an asshole.
You leave the stench of a eight year old still in diapers.

You actually think that all the other people who also
think you are a 12 year old ass are my other personalities?

    Deep denial.
I only post under this one name, little boy.

Now there's a presumption. Is he in the group? Hands? Anyone....

I've got "I know you are but what am I?" in the childish insult pool.
Would you get around to saying it so I can win?

Nobody owns the group. It's public.
    And yeah I top-posted on *1* reply.
    So what?

got you beat by two years... 1986 email and USENET access via a dumb
terminal connected to a DEC mainframe, back-bone site on the old ARPANET.
UNIX system and posted using the vi text editor. Fewer wankers in those
    days.

Low Life #3, allow me to introduce you to Troy Heagy, performance troll
and the self styled "most annoying man on usenet"

Troy posts under at least half a dozen names (see below) and his game is
to create a thread that might otherwise be interesting, and introduce a
deliberate mistake into it, and watch it fall apart with people arguing
about his mistake instead the actual topic.

He's been busted in rec.arts.tv so many times that he's expanding his
net to other groups, like mostly sci-fi like Farscape, and technical
ones like these. But he sets the cross posts to rec.arts.tv to show
that he's still managing to annoy us here.

He'll now scream that we're haters, and are stalking him, etc., etc.,
etc., and probably threaten legal action, yadda yadda yadda.

Oh, and he sends death threats to people that expose him like this, and
then will claim they've been sending HIM death threats, and writing his
boss and trying to get him fired, blah blah blah.

Killfile Troy Heagy in all (s)he-its many incarnations now:

OMG, how can you be so fucking pathetically stupid as to have not
    gotten that?

I never said a damned thing about your or anyone else's post(s), you
fucking retard. The JOKE was about YOU and your retarded multiple
    personalities.

    Shit, grow up, fuckhead.

    So what?

It's simple. You are a fucking Usenet retard!

Nothing you say will change the fact that you are absent any whisp
    of convention.

You are likely a mere pirate fucktard. I could probably hunt up
your posts and find out all you do is copy DVDs. Whatever you're
about is already apparent, I'm sure. Let's see...

Cool. I had a computer in 1986 (commodore=128), but no modem, no
printer.. My parents made me buy one piece at a time, so in 1985 was
the computer. 1986 was the disk drive. 1987 was the printer. The
    modem finally arrived in 1988.

In retrospect, I wish I had bought the modem *first* since that would
have been the most-useful piece of the "puzzle".

You're an idiot. I was watching Laser Disc for years before you were
even a spooge stain on daddy's mattress. Some of my turds are
teenagers. You, however, are an idiot.

Actually, he's a troll. That Troy Heagy. He's on a campaign to spread
his trolling to lots of new groups. While it's tempting to play with
the troll, it's best overall to frustrate him by ignoring or killfiling
    him.

I had one of those...the AT&T version. Nice machine, not dumbed down like
the 8088s. Still, it was a piece of crap compared with the Apple IIe I had
before that. The Apple IIe had a modem and color monitor and easy to learn
    assembly language....my first love. ;-)

As well as the totally retarded idiot that runs around behind him
like a little puppy dog that got kicked.

We don't need a fucking retarded seminar from a pissed off fucktard
every time someone answers the other fucktard, fucktard.

  19. I agree - the modem was wonderful. We had acoustic couplers back in the
70's, 300 baud. 1200 bps modems were a great leap forward. Text finally came
in faster than you could read it.

About 1982 I was writing applications for the TRS-80 - 64k memory, up to 4
    5.25 floppy drives.

It is interesting to look back at that equipent, and the work that was
produced. Certainly financial statements are not any better now, and the
actual content of reports seems to have gone down a bit. Appearance and
convenience are way up, but productivity is down because people are spending
way too much time on appearance and not enough on results. When there was
only one font, you didn't spend hours getting the leading and kerning set
    just right.

I wouldn't go back, but I am always after the staff to concentrate on
    content over flashy appearance.

ALL of Goodyear Tire stores had no better than 2400 bd modems to
connect to their mainframe with, all the way up till just a few years
    ago.
