How to delete a movie part in the mid of an wmv with MovieMaker ?

Assume I have a wmv movie with a length of 10 minutes. I can load it into MovieMaker 2.1.x
and drag the position indicator on the timeline to the position I want.
From that operation I know that I want to delete the part from
position 2min23sec to the position 3min42sec.
The remaining parts before and after should be automatically pasted after the delete operation.
The chunk in the mid should be really, physically deleted not only made invisible ("trimmed").

But how do I do this with MovieMaker?

How do I tell MovieMaker the current position is the start (resp. the stop) for the clip part
I want later to delete?

Note that the clip part is from the mid of the whole movie not the beginning or end.

If deleting in the mid is NOT possible: Which movie editing program can do this with wmv files?

Once you've taken it out on the timeline, just export the movie you've
made and then delete the old one.

If YOU can sync the carbs in an SC in under 2 days, then you DO belong

Cut the clip at the positions you specified and delete it. You then have to
create a new WMV file from that...you cannot simply save it. All NLE
software is non-destructive. This means whatever you do to a file on the
timeline is not actually happening to the file itself. Therefore, you must
create a new file with the changes you have made.
