    Hi,

I am new here as well as to this handy cam stuffs.

I have a Canon Digital Video Cam MV650i. I have read the manuals that comes
with it and cannot find anywhere that explains how to get the video shots on
the tapes into my computer HD or into CDs.

Can anyone outthere give me a hand?

    Thank you.

  2. You need to install an IEEE 1394 (known as firewire or i-Link)
card into your computer. The camcorder has an output intended
to connect to this type of card. These cards are not very
    expensive, usually between $10 - $60 USD.

You will need a fairly large HD to edit video on your computer
due to the fact that the .avi video-capture files are created
at a rate of 13 Gb per hour of video. I'd recommend at least
an 80 Gb (7200 RPM) hard drive, if not larger.

You'll also need editing software, perhaps Adobe Premiere or
SonicFoundry's editing software - Vegas Video 4. These are the
most popular packages, but they're expensive. There are many
other brands of video editing software that are not as well
known, but still good products, that are much less expensive.
