How to get Vegas 4.0 to recognize the mp3-encoded audio from aviclips?

  1. Hello everyone,

I recently purchased Vegas 4.0 based on the recommendations in this
group and have been greatly impressed, but I have come up against one
snafu. Before Vegas 4.0, I had encoded some small avi clips (Divx codec
for video) and used the basic LAME mp3 codec for encoding the audio. If
I import these clips into Vegas, it will only recognize the video
portion of the clip. I took the same clip into VirtualDub and
re-encoded it with PCM audio and Vegas imported both video and audio
with no problems. It's not too big of a hassle to re-encode with
VirtualDub, but is there a method (or some required plug-in) for Vegas
    to work with the mp3-audio?

Thanks for any help or tips in advance,
    Tom
