I don't see the big deal about Leica lenses

A majority of the pictures I've seen taken with a Leica lenses are not all
that sharp. They may have good contrast,but you can have both in a 100mm
Minolta AF or a 50mm Cannon for half the price.

 

Just having any particular lens (or camera) is not a guarantee of great
images. There is also technique to be considered, especially since most 35 mm
photos are captured hand held. It should also be apparent that there are some
quite nice lenses made by other companies.

Almost anyone looking at random photos would be lucky to guess what equipment
was used in the photos. In fact, without knowing the photographer, or what
gear was used, it would be tough to tell much of anything. The gear does not
make the image compelling, but the person behind that gear, and the decision
of when and where to capture an image, can make an image compelling.

There is much more to photography than the gear. It can either help you, or
make realizing your vision difficult. You don't need eyes to see, you need
vision.
