    I'm running WinXP. The computer ses the HD when it posts, but it will
    not see it thru My Computer. Any suggestions?

    Since TiVo runs under Linux WinXP won't work with the
    drive. You can download free tools to run in Linux from a
    CD, and work with such a drive.

    Try reviewing the posts at alt.video.ptv.tivo This issue is
    addressed over and over again, there.

    Luck;

    First of all, Tivo uses a Linux operating system and a different file
    system, so Windows XP won't read it at all. Worse, however, when you try to
    boot a hard drive in XP. the OS writes headers to the boot record which
    makes it unreadable on a Tivo.

    There is various backup software around that _might_ rescue the programs
    saved on the drive, but you'll have to boot your computer into Linux. The
    whole process is too complicated to describe here. However, if you go here:

    you'll find all the information you need.
