Ah, so you avoid answering. I shall throw cotton balls at you
until you bleed, and then you will be awarded purple earrings.

That should be done, with ALL systems...which only proves my point
that, RAID >itself< isn't foolproof. A separate hard drive remains
    necessary, for backups.

  3. Nope. Many backup systems are not disk based. There are
such things as tape libraries and robots.
The "RAID [...] is wholly unsuited to backup strategies" is
on another court, in another town, about 3 large states away
from "RAID >itself< isn't foolproof". And the latter is
    carrying coals to Newcastle.

"A separate hard drive remains necessary, for backups." is neither
true (see above), nor something that cannot be done with RAID.

Regardless of the medium employed, backups are always needed.
I've never been there. Is it in Connecticut?
RAID offers ineffectual protection, against either malware or user

  5. Backup of backups of backups of backups, ad infinitum.

And all of them, even the tape backups, using a disk for
    every backup.

Please return when you have read and understood the first few
    quotes of the post.
