I will have a tape of unrelated sequences in my 60 minute DV tape

I will want to select parts of that tape to author a DVD

I currently use (newbie-use) DVIO to capture the DV2 avi file, and TMPGEnc
to encode, and TMPGEnc DVD Author to create my DVD. Im just a newbie, hence
this thread as I am getting there with this!

If I start off with say a 13Gb single avi file from my camera, what is the
easiest way to split that into several clips? Should I encode the lot in one
    hit, then split the MPG2?

I have looked at some programs, but they tend to want me to edit it as a
project, but I prefer to use one function, i.e. to cut the file into the
pieces I want, and go from there.

Any suggestions on what program(s) handle this?

    Tks to all

Splitting AVIs is a lot faster and easier than splitting MPEGs.
VirtualDub is probably ideal for this.
