Inexpensive dedicated scanner

  1. Has anyone noticed or, better still, tried the "Slide and
Negative Digital Picture Converter" that Hammacher Schlemmer is
advertising for $99.95? It's 5MP sensor might offer quality
similar to the average digital camera and thus give enough
resolution for all but people who want to crop a lot. After all,
10MP only increases the resolution by about 1.4.

Generally, I observe that their prices are quite high. I have an Epson
Photo scanner - does slides and negatives plus regular scanning - I
purchased refurb from the Epson online store. Works quite well.

  3. I've just found that the scanner will not be shipping until
October so it is unlikely that I will find anyone who has tried
it. I will find it interesting to see how well it works.
