Infrared on a Minolta DiMage S414

I have a Tiffen 87 IR filter that I've used with two other digicams, and
I've been fooling around with it on this one. Both of the other cameras
produced what looked like black and white-style images: the world was
basically a range of greys. When I use it on my S414, I get a purplish cast.
If I switch to B&W mode, I get a picture that looks like the ones the filter
    produces on the other cameras.

Any thoughts on why I'd get a purplish cast like this? All settings are
correct - I don't have any effects, a filter, etc set. It doesn't really
bother me - I can just switch to B&W mode - but it makes me wonder if I'm
    missing something.

I might also mention that this camera is WAY more sensitive to IR than my
last two were - in direct sunlight, you can see the image on the viewfinder
and an exposure can be made in 0.5 sec, maybe a little less. With both of
the other two you needed an exposure of multiple seconds at max aperture.
