    Why is it odd?

Last numbers I saw (Apple public presentation at the last NAB) indicated
more than half a million registered FCP systems deployed.

Considering that video editing is an overall pretty small niche market -
I'd say that's a pretty clear sign of how successful it's become.

In that context, the ads are just "business as usual."

It would be a clear sign if there were a legitimate TOTAL number of ALL
editing systems .. without that.. its simply Bill's optimisim. Editing
is not a small niche market by any stretch.. Considering TV, corporate, Web
media, movies, Govt, defense.. and Islamic Terrorists.. etc etc.. I would
say it is a fairily vast market .. movie editing may be niche.. but media
    editing is not..

Take the average football stadium. Fill it with random people.

How many of them edit for a living?

    That's a niche.

I guarantee you there's be more plumbers, lawyers, accountants,
waitresses, teachers, and on and on and on.

Be interesting to see the IRS SIC code data.

I wonder if there are more of us than lumberjacks?
    Fine artists?

    Probably more than shepherds, tho.

    Cest' la vie!

US? Bill.. you don't edit for a living..

Or did you just edit long enough to be convinced you knew it all and began
yakking at podiums and writing cheezy books. $65? Come on Bill.. What
credits do you have anyway that would make anything you write worth $65.00

I figure you editied for a year.. and then started yakking. It is easy to
see that you enjoy giving advice. I recall a particularly entertaining post
where you were giving me IRS advice.. :)) cracked me up.
