Is there an (.AC3) or (.MPA) editor that can clean up audio similar to Cooledit?

  1. Hi all,
actually the subject line says it all. I googled, but found mainly
sound ripper or some useless file converters.

You will need to convert the AC3 file to wav, then do the clean up and then
convert back. You don't say what form of AC3 file. Is it stereo or 5.1. If
it is 5.1 there is an added complexity to your task.

Using Vegas 6 you can "render" an audio file to AC3 (any format) as long as
you have the Dolby encoder installed, but you can't import an ac 3 file into

In CoolEdit Pro you use "extract audio from video" under the file menu to
load in an MPA file. You can then use all the processing tools to clean up
the sound, then save as a wav file.
