Is Jessops a top ftse 500 company?
Those traditional shops where they let you play with the equipment,
    knowledgeable and helpful advice?
how are they coping with the downturn in film etc.

As far as I am aware, Jessops is privately owned at therefore is not
listed on the FTSE. I think a flotation was planned but cancelled
    when stock markets plummeted.
They aren't. They are dying by the dozen.

Are they? I would think they sell gobs of digital cameras now. Some shops
around here can't keep some models in stock!

Accroding to their website the last count was 240 stores. Mind you they
seem to have bought out every other chain in the uk.

  5. Not quite (big evil Jacobs Photo & Video grin)

IIRC when I started at Jacobs, my interview went like this:
Manager: "Hi Martin, my name's Graham. This is my office, this is the
staffroom, pay is £xx per day, can you start Saturday?"
    Me: "Yes"

    Or something very similar.

One of my LX bodies came from there. They happened to have a decent one
just when I wanted an extra. It had the advantage of not having a finder
with it - I already had a spare finder and it made the body _a lot_
    cheaper.

  12. Walking down New Oxford Street is a little like walking between two
broadsiding galleons. But we're winning that one :)
