JVC SR-VS30 fire wire link

  1. Does anyone have experience with using the fire wire link on this
machine. How can you be sure the feed is from the firewire and not the svhs?

The s-video (aka Y/C, not svhs as that's a tape format) connector is
(typically) a round 4-pin connector while the firewire is a (very) skinny
4-pin rectangular plug. No way to confuse the two. You are aware that this
machine comes with an s-video cable? You'll have to buy the firewire (aka
    IEEE 1394) cable separately.

I have the 20 (previous version). The firewire only reads from the DV deck.
You have to dub through the DV deck to get the SVHS to patch into the
    firewire out.

    Does that answer it?

  4. The problem I am having may be two fold. Every time I plug in the firewire
Windows wants to load software for a "AV/C Tuner" which there is no software
on the computer or can I find anything on JVC website. Second and the most
important is when playing from the video deck capture can only happen
through the SVHS out and not the firewire. I know this because if I unplug
the SVHS out the video capture does not happen. It may be that I need
whatever software to make it work.
