JVC Videocam with 4GB Microdrive

    Actually, master records in MPEG2 format... Does not sound good.
    Further, 1/3.6" chip with over 2 MPixs... Does not sound good.
    Not impressed too much.

    I didn't say I was impressed, merely interesting - primarily because
    it signals (or confirms) the start of a new trend. I'm hoping for
    something (at least) as good as my Optura Pi, but with a not-tape
    direct-access recording medium. Perhaps there will be some better 8cm
    DVD models than the current offers.

    John, I am the guy who is waiting for a model with solid state record
    medium for 1 hour of the record time (~ 13 GB for avi), without any
    mechanical part in the record area...
    Dreaming too much? Probably yes. It seems to me my digicam will die
    looong before my dream becomes the reality ;-)
