I've been noticing the Kiev 35A especially in eBay and the word seems
to be that its a copy of the Minox 35EL yet the dimensions aren't
right. The Kiev is 145 x 87 x 98 millimeters while the EK is supposed
    to be 100x61x31millimeters. Whats gives?

The Kiev isn't 145 x 87 x 88, it is an exact clone of the Minox and identical
in every dimension. I had one and liked it, it's a fun camera. Their main issue
    - light leaks - was addressed some years ago.

I had one last year. After the first roll of film was full with
vertical signs of the light leaks, I painted the back. On the second
roll there were no more light leaks visible. During the third roll of
film the camera died. I would never buy one again, it is not even a
    funny toy.

I have owned and used many pocketable 35mm cameras.
The Kiev 35A is a strong contender for the absolute worst.
It is not worth even its "bargain" price...

    Excelsior, you fatheads!

The Minox on which it was based was a pain in the ass too AFAIK.
