Kodak Easyshare with DX 6440 and WinXP Pro problem

Discussion in 'Kodak' started by Serial # 19781010, Mar 7, 2004.

  1. Recently have purchased a Kodak DX 6440 with EasyShare 6000 Dock.

Running WindowsXP Pro with SP1 installed.

Have tried numerous times to install EasyShare software and
    continually receive this message:

    C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\bin\EasyShare.exe
This application has failed to start because the application
configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this
    problem.

I have tried the EXXFix mentioned on the Kodak website, I have tried
to install as the Administrator even though I have administrator
    rights available for all users.

    Nothing works.

    What is the fix?????

I know very little about this camera, but you can run into problems if
you have a scanner connected and powered at the time of camera
installation or if you try to run camera software at the same time a
scanner is connnected and powered due to TWAIN interferences. XP really
wants to see one TWAIN active at a time. Since multifunction printers
and printers with attached flash readers also use TWAIN, MFprinters can
    interfere also.

When re-installing the software, did you first remove the software
components, including TWAIN if any, from Add/Remove Programs?

  4. Absolutely - I'm just a point and shoot picture taker, nothing fancy
so I'm sure the software will meet my needs for the most part. Have
played with the software quite a bit now, pretty much seems to do what
I need it to do. I enjoy the "ease of use" of the product.

If I need a headache I've got photoshop, fireworks, and imageready
available too me, but for most of what I want to do I won't have to
    make those efforts.

My brother and I own a hundred acres of woodland on the Iowa border in
NE Missouri. The camera will be great to have around camp.

    Thanks,
