I've been going to the local market and using the Kodak kiosk for scanning & printing some of our son's sports photos for an upcoming team dinner. I happen to come across an old Kodak "Photo" PCD from 1994 with the built-in 5 resolutions, and did a little research on the PCD format, etc. It appears that the current Kodak "Picture" CD has only one resolution aimed at displaying the photos on HDTV and not aimed at printing, etc as the size is only 1024 x 1536 and in standard jpeg format. SO - as some of these kiosks are being marketed as for scanning old photos to keep them safe - how does the scan at 1024 actually work out ? Just wondering if we scan our boxes of photos at 1024 x 1536 what's the largest print we can get that will still look good ? I've not investigated what other "services" are using for their scanning methods...
