I have tried 2 Kodak Cx 6330 cameras and 2 different brands of batteries
but the build-in charger from the 6000 printer dock will only charge
Kodak bateries. Nowhere in the documentation is this stated
The Kodak AA batteries are packed together in such a way that they will
not fit into a standard charger
This means if I go on the road I have to take the bulky printer dock for
the Kodak batteries and also my other charger for the 4 other batteries

I am happy with the camera itself and the printer dock printout is
    excellent but costly

  2. Kodak does offer a travel charger for the kodak battery pack.

And yes, your experiments are true, the charger in the docks (printer or
standard) will not charge anything other than the Kodak packs (or third
party packs made to work like the Kodak packs). This is done for regulatory
and safety reasons. The charging circuit is in the dock and cannot detect
if standard AA batteries are installed in the camera and thus we can't
safelly assume that there are NiCd or NiMh batteries in the camera. There
is a physical lockout switch that is triggered by the pack that turns on the
    charging of batteries.
