I have a Kodak DX4330 digital (about 4 years old). Kodak have quoted me £90
+ shipping for repair. I think this must be a joke as I could buy a
reconditioned higher spec. camera for less than £50. Surely they never
receive any repair business at these prices.

    It's going on eBay tomorrow.

They don't want repair business, they want to sell cameras.
Historically they only sold cameras because they wanted to sell film and
    processing, but that's over now.

    Hi,

It's not a joke. They have a fixed price repair (a swap out I think) for
their cameras. This used to be a good deal for their cameras. I have
used the Kodak Camera repair system but it was about 10 years ago for a
    pro camera.

However as you have pointed out the price of new cameras is in free fall
as the spec rises at the same rate in the other direction .
I would suggest for what you have go to ebay.

It's not a joke, because they want to sell and support newer model than
    repairing older model.
Now that may be a joke, because you know you should get a refurbished for

That's quite correct. They do NOT want repair business.

FWIW: A few years back I did get a Casio repaired at about 1/4th the price
    of a new one.
