I'd never thought of measuring the capacity of a prostitute in farads:
they tend not to store charge for very long so I guess they are
electrolytics with high leakage. Their low series resistance doesn't
guarantee a high Quality factor, but their resonant frequency and
damping are easy enough to measure.

True. A phone can also serve as an excellent parking sensor, but it has
to be replaced after each use :)

    They don't need one.
It's not always clear exactly what Microsoft intends with their licensing.
They make their money from pre-installed operating systems, so they aren't
super-vigilant about retail copies or OEM copies installed by DIY users.

The way I see it, if one computer replaces another, then the OS license should
be transferable to it, be it a Mac or a PC. But vendors don't always agree,
since greed tends to cloud their judgement.

Thank god, reading a map while driving is even more dangerous than using a
    handheld mobile phone!

Doing both while also trying to roll up a cigarette is a real pain.

the one on the back of the box, or the one that comes up in system
    profiler (it's stored internally too).

what's the serial number of a unit sent in for repair? same deal.

the kindle fire is sold for approximately what it costs to build, and
depending on which report you want to believe, possibly even slightly
less than cost. where amazon expects to make money is by selling
content to the user, namely books, movies, etc., but also other
    products at amazon.com as well.

that's a very different business model than the ipad and other tablets.

it's a niche market segment, and one which apple does not bother with.

they do use the lowest price parts for a particular spec, and due to
sales volume, they can negotiate even lower prices than their
competitors can, but that's not the issue.

what apple doesn't do is use low *quality* parts, such as tn displays
instead of ips, cheap plastic enclosures rather than machined aluminum,
    etc.
contact the securities and exchange commission if you think apple lied
at their shareholder meetings or is in any way engaging in fraudulent
    activities.

Oh, so you're moving the goal posts. So what was it that was said in
this meeting: "We don't use the cheapest parts" or "We don't use low
quality parts"? You originally presented the statement as something
you were quoting. Did you lie or just make the statement up? Would
    you call that "twisting"?

No need now that you've changed your story and made up a new quote.
The new version is more acceptable as standard business fluff-talk.
That's a subjective comment because "low quality" is a comparative
thing. It's what they call "puffery" in the used car business.

What's that got to do with anything? The guy bought a product that
works for him, he's happy with it, and he spent what he thought was a
reasonable price for the features. The books he downloads are through
the public library at no cost to him.

    not at all.
But there¹s some stuff in our industry that we wouldn¹t be proud to
ship. And we just can¹t do it. We can¹t ship junk. There are
thresholds we can¹t cross because of who we are. And we think that
there¹s a very significant slice of the [market] that wants that too.
You¹ll find that our products are not premium priced. You price out
our competitors¹ products, and add features that actually make them
useful, and they¹re the same or actually more expensive. We don¹t
    offer stripped-down, lousy products.
what you do is what i would call twisting.
    i've done no such thing
apple doesn't sell used cars so that's not relevant.

i'm explaining why the kindle fire is priced where it is, and how its
price doesn't mean the ipad is 'overpriced.'
nothing wrong with that. the kindle fire is a decent product for what
it is, although a bit slow at times.
so amazon is losing money on him.

There was absolutely nothing in my post that said or implied that the
iPad is overpriced. In fact, I've specifically said it isn't.
    That's called "risk".

So the actual quote acknowledges that other makers of similar products
    - a significant number of them - who also have high standards.
What you did is what I call "lying".
    You proved that you did.
    Whoosh.

like i said, if you have evidence something is going on that shouldn't
be, by all means report it.

it says they don't ship crap like their competitors do. that also
doesn't mean that their competitors *only* ship crap.
where did i lie? hint: your failure to understand does not mean i'm
    lying.
