    Why not buy?

Just because no longer made - does this imply immediately that they
    are all no good?

It´s still a good camera and Sony continues the lens line, so if the
    price is right, why not?

And this is some sort of ironclad guarantee?

I personally would not trust Sony with my PC or my camera.

<-- IF Sony continues the quality. Minolta lenses is known for its quality
and see what Sony did with
Carl Zeiss lens on their prosumer cam :)

We don´t know, but why shouldn´t they. It would be stupid to waste a
    good brand.

Times have changed - to day the expensive brands have to
    make economy products too.

There is a tendency to think (wrongly, I think) that new
stuff maked last years stuff obsolete.

Actually no, just the company who will make the successor cameras and the
name on the badge. Lenses are still being made by KM and Sony DSLRs will
have Minolta A mounts. The are still millions of KM camera owners.

bit hard to get your tone of voice and the humourous snigger after telling
that one, and also considering the seriousness of some people
    here............. I didn't "get it"

There seems to be a flow on effect on Ebay with the price of Minolta
lenses being at a low. Minolta cameras have always been pretty good.
It's just a pity the announcement wasn't made differently... Like as a
take over. It might have resulted in a better public response.

I am loving it. I am circling for all those G-Lens out there. I think a
    200mm f2.8 would be nice.
