I'm starting to use layers and find them very useful, but
I still have some problems with them.

I have used the lasso tool to select an aera in my picture,
and used the saturation to ajust the colours in this selected
aera. But Now I want to put the lasso tool and saturation
on it's own layer, but I can't get it to work. What must I
do to get it to work ?

    Hi.

You should have made the new layer as soon as you made the selection, and
then applied the Edits to it. The background layer would have remained as it
    was originally.

If you now make a new layer, it will have your edit applied, as will the
background layer you are copying it from.

To make a layer from your lasooed selection, (before the Edit was applied),
go to Layers > new > via copy. make that layer active and apply whatever
    edits you choose.

Or Layer > Adjustment layer > Hue Saturation. This gives a specific kind of
    layer.

Experiment and see which should be used and when.
