I just picked up one of these at a local store after a guy I work with
said he'd been able to play divx and xvid movies I'd burned onto CD-R
    for him.

Anyway, it really does work. It has progressive scan, digital audio out,
S-Video and component out. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it,
but the first 6 xvid files I threw at it from a DVD+R disc played just
fine (granted, 6 feature films on a DVD is a lot of compression, but
they looked better on the TV than on my PC). It was a little spendy
($129) but it works nicely. It even does a great job with MP3s. I
haven't had a chance to test the jpeg slide show feature yet.

I take points off for the funky appearance of the front panel, but
    overall I can't complain.
