I had a Canon Powershot A650IS and it was great, but that was nicked today
so I need a new one, and will have to buy it in Beijing because that's where
    I am currently.

Basically I want what I had in the 650IS, a fold out screen so I can see the
LCD from all angles, takes AA cells and SD cards, at least 6x zoom and a
    high degree of manual control.

I'd buy another 650IS but I can't find it on sale anywhere on the web...
    What's closest please?

  2. They don't make 'em like that any more. A quick search for vari-angle
displays at Jacobs' site gives 8 hits, precisely not a single one of
which seems to take AAs (and most of which aren't anywhere near as
compact as your A650 was). For reference, the candidates are:

    - Canon PowerShot G12
    - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
    - Panasonic Lumix FZ100
    - Leica V-Lux 2 (essentially identical to the above)
    - Sony DSC-HX100V
    - Nikon Coolpix P500
    - Nikon Coolpix P7100
    - Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150

Thanks Tom... none of those seem to fit the bill, I will maybe try and pick
up a second hand A650IS from eBay at practically the same price I paid for
    it...
