I used to check out a great book from the company library where I
worked. I left there twenty years ago, so haven't seen the book since
then. With the many online used book stores now, I thought I'd like to
get myself a copy of this book. I do not remember the author, but
wonder if anyone recognizes this excellent book.

I believe the title was simply "Color Photography". As I say, I don't
remember the author's name, but he was "Director of Color Photography at
Eastman Kodak". I'd say the book was written in the sixties, maybe
fifties. Does this sound familiar to anyone? It was not a Kodak
publication, but do not remember the publisher either (its been 20
    years).

Was this one of the "Time-Life" series of photography books? I have it
    somewhere ...

  3. There's an Ernst Haas collection called this, but it doesn't sound like
the book you're after (though he did shoot on Kodak film and they
sponsored at least one Haas exhibition). You might try the excellent book
search site at www.addall.com which has sections for both new and out of
    print books.

I believe Henry Horenstein had one of that title:

    ....

It going to be tough because of a common title. I put "color photography"
into the search engine at half.com (great for used books) and came up with
80 hits. A half to a third were published early enough to qualify as the
one you are looking for. You might wish to try that and see if any of the
authors names ring a bell. Then with the most likely names you could try
using your library to interlibrary loan some of the books to see if you hit
    the one you're looking for.

Andreas Feininger, Ernst Haas, and John Hedgecoe were around then and the
first and last were prodigiously publishing a lot of the same material
under titles that were very similar.

    Good luck.

I have a copy of this book ("Color Photography: A Working Manual") but it's
dated "First edition 1995" so it definitely isn't the one Don remembers from
    the 1960's :)

Nope. I have several of the TL books - this was not one of them. Don't
remember the publisher, think it may have been a McGraw Hill or
something like that. As I remember it it had a black cover (hard
    cover).

Okay, I missed the original message, so I might be waaay off here.
However I picked up "Kodak Guide to 35mm Photography" which has treated
me well, although I've read very little from it (prefer to mess around
and figure things out this way)
