    Yes, but the more interesting search is for a place where you can buy
    this connector off the shelf, both male and female versions, so you
    can build your own or modify existing cables.

    True. It appears the connector is proprietary and the recommended path
    is to buy a less-expensive Nikon cable and cut it up for your project,
    providing it has all the leads you're needing. (Expensive, but still a
    cheaper approach for some applications.)

    Some folks have managed to craft / modify other connectors to fit, but
    they lack the threaded locking nut.
