    Is there somewhere I can download a service-manual for a Sony PC-120e
    digital camcorder?
I need to figure out how to disassemble the device as I suspect a
connector to be loose, needing re-soldering or replacement.

  2. It's not the monitor speaker connection, is it ?

No, I've had problems with Firewire, so I'm wondering if the Firewire
("iLink") connector is loose from the circuit board or something.
But it might very well be a bad Firewire cable, despite having bought a
    brand new one.

Why do you ask? Do you have access to the PC-120 service manual so I
can find out how to open the device?

  4. Sorry, no
    - but a year ago when I was transferring 30 mins of video* to my PC via
FireWire, the speaker on my TRV22 started sounding odd, and a few minutes
later, it stopped sounding at all. Until it failed, I hadn't realised how
one gets to rely on the beeps etc. Cost me quite a bit to get it repaired.
I was just wondering whether this is a weak area for domestic Sony
camcorders. In my case, the FireWire connection continued OK.
*The video of a Folk Music band got quite noisy, but as it's a PCM style of
audio, obviously couldn't have been louder than Sony's engineers should have
designed for. The TRV22 has only auto control of recording level.
