Looking to low-cost alternative to an Elmo

I need to project a live video to a laptop. I have a Palm app that I
often show to small groups. In the past, I've borrowed an Elmo. The
nice thing about the format is the Elmo projects the device in its
entirety, the stylus, my hands, and anything else I'm doing. So,
people can see not only the app, but how I'm interacting with it.
(I've used Presenter-to-go, which projects just the app, which isn't as
    good).

I can't afford an Elmo and am looking for a low-cost alternative. I
bought a Logitech QuickCam Laptop Pro camera and hooked it up to a
laptop. I built a simple stand that pointed the camera to the table
top where I place the Palm device. It works quite well, the only
problem I'm having is the preview mode for the camera software is
hardwired at 320x240, even though the camera can capture video at
640x480. The help documentation for the camera says that the software
supports the larger preview mode by changing the settings in the
"Options > Window" Tab, but this feature apparently was never
implemented, as there is no "Options > Window" tab. (I downloaded the
latest software, and still no feature. I posted this issue to the
Logitech forum, but no response yet.)

So, I'm back to square one. Can anyone suggest a camera or device that
has a 640x480 or larger preview? I'm hoping not to spend more than
    $200 or so.

    Thanks,
    Rich
