    Wannabe?

No real bike rider would want a Harley, it is brand, not a bike. Harleys
are to real bikes what a Kodak P&S is to a full frame DLSR.

Not at all, even for my own personal use I'm more fussy than that photo!
And I certainly wouldn't bother posting rejects anywhere on-line.
But each to their own, as I already said.
For the LAST time, IF YOU'RE HAPPY, FINE by me.
However if you just prefer to argue to protect your precious ego, then your
    photo's will never improve.
(and I won't care about that either)

You are supposed to excuse yourself when you break wind in public. I don't
    see an apology.

Well I think it's ok, so I guess that means you're calling me a twit.

Want to try that in person?

I drink at the Southport Yacht Club every Wednesday and Friday, just ask
the lass at reception or any of the bar staff to point out the guy who
rides the Vincent and they'll oblige.

    I won't hold my breath.

A sock, or just a shared delusion?

(so I guess that is the only sort of images he has..)
(why the superior tone then? If his images *are* superior, why not help
us low-lives, as we aspire to such greatness?)
(why wasn't the last time he posted, the 'last time'?)
(oh dear, another one who can't handle an apostrophe...)

    (but he clearly did)
(he keeps coming back, but never with a photo (let alone a relevant one)
    or a useful comment...)

Oh, did I think all that out loud?

When you worked in "the newspaper game". Hmmm.

I work in print media, have been a journalist for the ABC, then Fairfax,
then News Ltd., for most of my working life. I have yet to hear a
journalist refer to "the newspaper game". They refer to it as many things,
    some unprintable, but never that.

Elaborate, tell us who you worked for and when.

I won't hold my breath waiting for that response either, blue doesn't suit me.

Weekly Times? That's News Ltd., when was that?
You were a cadet with the Weekly Times and they sent you to cover the
biggest entertainment event of the decade? Your credibility has shriveled
up and fallen through a crack in the floor. (It's a parquet floor BTW.)

In reality, it doesn't look too bad in that colour, but yes, that is
partly why I rendered it in b&w so as to look a little more like the
    real (old) thing.

    Thanks, Black.

I'm glad you thought it was ok, and it is good to see it provoked some
    discussion.

Perhaps Mr T, who I imagine won't take up your kind offer, might like to
post some images of his. On an unrelated topic to avoid any
embarrassment, of course! A person of such talent obviously has much
    knowledge to share...

    Up for it, Mr T?

Yeah just like a typical thug. You think it's alright for YOU to call
someone a twit or a turd, but violent if they use the same words.
Since I don't even live in the same state, it's a good idea not to hold your
breathe, but please feel free to do so in any case!

    "..hold your breathe.."? Sigh..

Hey, Mr T, can you quote the bit up there that suggests violence?

It is common knowledge that there are those who will say whatever they
like behind the cover of a fake computer name, but wouldn't dare say the
same in person. That would appear to be you.

Further, to assume violent intent behind a simple offer to have a drink
and see if you are brave enough to call someone a twit in person? -
well, that says even more about you...

    A complete picture has emerged!

Not at all. I will call you a twit or a turd or more colourfully, a small
puddle of excrement because you deserve it.

You were being derogatory and abusive without justification, you were also
being totally unrealistic in your implied assertion that all photos
presented for comment must be technically perfect. Photography isn't about
technical perfection, it is about communication, about creating an
impression with the subject of the photo, not with the photo itself.

You were also accusing anyone who disagrees with your rather limited world
view and petty agenda, of being a twit. I like the photo, and my liking the
photo does not give you the right to call me names, whereas your initial
abuse is fair reason for me to take offence and respond in the manner that
you initiated. My question still stands, are you prepared to stand in front
of someone and spout off in that manner? I really doubt it as you would
spend much of your day trying to climb back onto your feet.

As for violence, that is unlikely to happen because if you were man enough
to handle the results of your small minded and ill considered comments, you
wouldn't need to be so petty in order to impress yourself. You certainly
don't impress anyone else. Are you gay? You express yourself in that catty
and bitchy way that only some bitter women and gay men seem to manage.

As do you obviously, so where is your problem?
You have a reference for this twaddle? Only opinions matching yours are
allowed on YOUR newsgroups I suppose.

Real photographers achieve both, knowing they are not mutually exclusive.

What a load of unmitigated garbage. You do seem to have a very fragile ego
but no regard for any one else.
And if you can't take others comments why on earth post pictures in the
    first place?
Just looking for pats on the back, for that fragile ego I suppose.

So that means *you* have a countering reference saying aus.photo is only
for technically perfect photos. I haven't seen that one in the FAQ...

Or is that seriously your opinion?
Gee, I thought all opinions are allowed, as are contrary views, as are
criticisms of techniques that are not applicable or sensible. Eg the
idea of using a powerful flash to light a front-on view of a car in
dappled light, or using a diffuser when specular highlights are
desired.. It seems that if anyone offers an alternative view to yours
(and it seems you are somewhat in the minority here, if you read all the
comments..), *you* are the one to get upset. We're still waiting for
the details of the techniques you refer to, in a real life similar
example. (But not holding our 'breathes'.)
Always? You're clearly a black or white guy. And of course that
explains why you don't have the guts to post an image, because it will
have to come with no excuses now...!

Still not up for that challenge, I'm guessing.
But that's because we are not worthy, of course..! (grin)
So why, after all that, don't *you* post images or answer questions with
    examples and specifics??

Why would I, since I never said it? Argue with whoever you think did
    instead.
But not mine for some reason, why is that?
I'm not upset at all, but I do get amused at people threatening violence
because someone dislikes the photo they posted for comment!

Since I am not interested in your opinion, why would I waste my time?
It's the people who do post their photo's for comment, then get upset if
they get any negative comments that are stupid IMO.

So you can hold your breathe forever waiting for me to worry about YOUR
    opinion of my photo's.
If you're not interested in mine, simply ignore them, as I will do you in
    future.

    Superb snipping!!

You are (deliberately) missing the point. You expressed a view that was
challenged, and contrary information about your technique 'suggestions'
were posted (not just by one person) along with a request for more
details and examples. You have not responded in any meaningful way.
    You raised the 'violent' thing.
Several folk expressed the same view, so that then makes you a trolling
pretentious twat who is disinterested in anything except making himself
out as a photo god without a shred of evidence, and in fact evidence to
the exact contrary shows that you don't understand very basic techniques...
    PHOTOS.

    They don't own anything.
Good-oh. Consider it done. But if you post similar misinformation
    elsewhere, I'll be there.

And don't be too embarrassed by your failure to post anything relevant
to back up those assertions about powerful flash guns, etc, or.. (gasp)
an image of any kind.. Nobody noticed.

I suggest you try google groups if you can't keep up with who said what.
You may notice I have NEVER raised violence at any time.
    Black Shadow did.
As is your right to continue to post YOUR unsupported mis-information.
    And others to ignore it.

Yes, and real easter Bunnies live at the bottom of your garden. Bunnies
    aren't particularly exclusive either.

I have never met a photographer who has declared that a photograph that
s/he has taken is perfect, cannot be improved. Obviously have. Were you
    awake at the time?
Yes, well in my defence I have found mitigating garbage to be a waste of
time, plus it gets your hands all funky. I just throw it out the same way
    it comes in.
I have a bulletproof ego, one difference between us is that I don't need to
convince anyone who doesn't know me of that.
Hmmm. Wake up Maud. I have NEVER posted a pic or a link to a pic on this
group. I post on moderated groups only. It keeps the noise (look in a
mirror for an example of noise) down.
I don't want physical contact from people like you - I wouldn't risk it, I
haven't had my shots for a few years, and I can still remember those
training films showing the nasty things that are usually associated with
bits of feminine anatomy like yourself.

By the way, I make no claims to perfection, just to an appreciation of
    realism.

I would really love to see something from you something perfect in every
way. You are a *real* photographer I assume. I mean, after all your snide
comments regarding other photographers you could scarcely be anything else
    - could you?

    Or could you?

By the way, I'll be in Manly staying at the South Steyne for a few days the
week after next. Want to try a personal approach then? That shouldn't be
too far for you to travel. You can bring your Mummy if you like.
