You are suffering from electronics upgraditis. It's
a common malady afflicting computer and camera
    afficionadoes.

You cannot cure it by giving in to the disease and
buying a new _____ (computer, camera, DVD player,
PDA, mp3 player - pick one) because as soon as
you buy the new one, another still newer one will
come out and you're back where you started.

The best cure I know of is to only buy older generation
equipment. When the new, whizbang 3.6 GHz Pentium
4 comes out for only $1,995, that's the time to buy
an "old" 2.8 Ghz machine for $595. You get 3/4 of the
speed for 1/3 the price. When the new 9MP Nikon 17000
comes out, that's the time to buy the 5MP Nikon 5700 on
    sale.

Over the course of time, you're two extra
years behind the state of the art, but your bank
    account is three years ahead.

Besides, it's fun to dream about the new latest stuff.
As soon as you buy it you have trade in your dreams
for fears that it's rapidly going out of date. When
you buy the older technology, you already know
it's out of date, and it doesn't bother you so much.

Enjoy the dream. Enjoy the old camera. Put your
    money in the bank.
