I have an old Bogan tripod, the head is a 3047. The grease had
congealed, very high drag which makes fine adjustment quite difficult.

What would be a suitable replacement for the lubricant?

    Thanks

    I believe there's a special lubricant for professional video/motion
picture pan-head tripods, the viscosity allows a very smooth panning
action. Try a movie equipment hire company.

I have had great results with TriFlow synthetic grease with Teflon - in
    tubes from cycle shops...

Thanks for the suggestions. the cycle shops I knew of near here are
gone, so I found a new one. They had never heard of Tri-Flo, so off
to Amazon I go. Seems like that happens a lot anymore.
