Amazon is only free for their own stock sales, above a certain value.
Marketplace items (where other vendors use Amazon's facilities as a
storefront) charge their own carriage, irrespective of the total and
independent of sales direct to Amazon.

You didn't say anything about marketplace items not being part of the deal.
You can have an order for £300 worth of the DV tapes Nik mentioned, and
still pay carriage. It was a moot point anyway, as Nik had already mentioned
    it.

There are still reasons for this to happen although modern ships are
made with much less ferrous material.

    ":Jerry:"
What can I say, just WOW!!! That would be interesting to watch these movies
in the company with the young people...)

Although I'm always using this app: http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm
to rename my files using the yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss to always know what's that.
It's very convenient for cataloging and helps me to avoid these kinds of
mistakes like described above. I can mix the tapes for shooting, especially
when I have some a few-minute tails on the ends of each tape that I want to
use. When I import the footage my PC just reorders the files according to
the date/time of shooting, and that's it.

One more time - Thanks to the guy in this NG pointed me to this application
and this site several months ago!
