Minolta 5400 scanner image comparisons

Discussion in 'Minolta' started by Robert Feinman, Aug 10, 2003.

  1. A few people have asked to see what I've been talking about as concerns color
negative scanning problems with the supplied software.
I've added a page under my tips section which allows you to view the various
output options provided by the software.

In particular I'd be interested in seeing if anyone has better success with the
manual exposure settings than I have had. You can save the image locally and
play with it to your heart's content.

The images have deliberately been scanned at a fairly low resolution to keep
    file sizes small.

I have not made any changes to the manual exposure files, except for conversion
to 8 bit so that I could save as jpeg.
Some of the other images show slight adjustments which are noted in the captions.

I looked at your shots of neg scans and they remind me of my results
using the Minolta scanning s/w. I get much better results with VueScan
(for negatives) and better results with the Minolta s/w for slides.

With VueScan, even after calibration and specifying film type, I need to
    tweak the colors some more.

    Keep the 5400 reports coming.

Bart Van Der Wolf has been posting some scan times....
