    Hello folk,
I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a Minolta Dual Scan III. I've
been sweet on one for a long while, now.
I tend to quite like supporting internet retailers. Please can anyone
recommend a retailer selling the Dual Scan 3 for less?
Of course, I tend to prefer dealing with internet retailes because
they're a bit cheaper, and if it transpires that the cheapest way to
get one is on the high street, then fair enough.
I'm just looking for a few recommendations.

    Thank you

  2. Hi,

www.digitaldepot.co.uk has them in their shop at £239.00 including VAT - I
think that's a pretty good price. My brother ordered a Minolta Dimage X from
    there without any trouble.
There are a bunch of other places that have them at the same price:
www.digitalfirst.co.uk, www.bestcameras.co.uk has it at 259.99 including VAT
    and delivery.
I've had my eye on one for quite a while too ;)

    I got mine at www.dabs.com.

    Excellent machine. Go for it.

One thing that amazes me though was the amount of dust specks the scanner
reveals on my slides, even slides just back from the processors - invariably
I have to clean them up to some degree. More expensive scanners have
programs (like Digital Ice) to automatically do the cleaning for you.
However, unless you want to scan a lot of films in a short time its no big
deal to clean them with the clone tool.

  4. For this reason it might also be worth considering the Dimage Scan Elite -
older technology (SCSI connecter and I think a lower maximimum bit depth,
though the same resolution as the Dual Scan III), but does come with
Digital Ice (hardware & software). This was originally Minolta's high-end
35mm scanner, but can now be found pretty cheaply (I got one for 150 GBP +
VAT from www.morgancomputers.co.uk - it works well with a 15 GBP Adaptec
    SCSI card bought on ebay).
