Minolta X-700 shutter release problem

Discussion in 'Minolta' started by Robert Hoehne, Oct 29, 2003.

  1. Dear all,

I have an X-700 which has a problem as follows:

wind film on and press operating button or shutter release cable, hold it
down for about 2 seconds and then shutter will fire.

wind film on and the same happens again.

Alternately you can wind the film on and then wait 2 seconds, after that 2
seconds the shutter will release as soon as the button or cable is pressed.

Batteries are brand new, tried several.

Are you sure you do not have the shuter self timer set. I made the same
    mistake on a Nikon F3

  3. positive, the self timer gives me 10 second delay not 2.

The self timer activation has the same problem with delay before the LED
    starts blinking.

Not familiar with the X-700 but have you made sure that the film rewind
button, usually on the camera baseplate, is not stuck in the rewind
    position?

    Robert,

I had a similar problem with an X-700 I was borrowing - I'd check the
self-timer switch anyway, as well as which "On" position you have the camera
    set to.

IIRC, with the one I was borrowing, I'd accidentally turned on the
self-timer, and it was only delaying for about two seconds, as well.
