Minolta Z1 Problem With ViewFinder in Sunlight

I just bought a Minolta Z1 and took it outside for the first time.
Although I'm not thrilled with the mirror view finder setup, I thought
I could live with it. I like to take landscape photos. I noticed
that when I take photos in bright sunlight, the LCD reflects the
camera making exposure adjustments to make the picture darker but
unfortunately the view finder shows the same thing. This means I
effectively can't see the subject of my photo, even though the
pictures turn out fine. Has anyone else had this problem? I thought
    I was going blind.
