Looking to purchase a compact and preferably light weight monopod. Been
looking at Manfrotto models 680 and 676 (old 3006). The 676 is about 3/4
pounds lighter but the light weight makes me wonder if it is stable as the
    680. I will probably use a 3229 or 484rc head on it. I'd appreciate any
oponions on the pros/cons of choosing between these two monopods. Thanks

I have one of the larger Manfrotto pods, similar to the current 682. I
leave the "legs" at home. It's on the heavy sied, but that's fine with me.

I have a ball head and quick release plate on it, which works fine
although a little bit clumsy. You may find the 384 to be likewise.

There is a monopod head, the 234/RC. This is less clumsy than a ball
head. It just tilts fore/aft and left/right is no prob with a mono.

    Cheers,
    Alan
