I've tried to help a friend who has had problems since installing a
Nikon Coolscan scanner on his PC (running Windows XP with 256mb of
RAM). They have Nikon Scan 3 Version 3.1.4 as the driver installed.
    Here's his problem:

"We invested in a Nikon Coolscan 4000ED film/slide scanner (connected
via Firewire). Since installing the Nikon, which is excellent as a
piece of kit, we have had problems in as much that once the Nikon is
used, the PC will no longer recognise the other kit (printers, flatbed
scanner) unless the PC is shut down and restarted.

Also, after using the Nikon, the PC will not shut down unless we hold
the 'Off' button for at least five seconds!"

Anyone come across this problem with Coolscan or the Scan 3 driver? Or
have any idea what might be causing it? The Nikon helpdesk have been
polite but have been unable to solve this.

    Many thanks

  2. If you have not already done so, take this to comp.periphs.scanners.
