MS MPEG4 Codec V1, V2, V3 - what are they and how do they differ?

    I see these things in my codec list called Microsoft MPEG 4 video
    codec v1, v2 and v3.

    I don't know what the differences are and was hoping you could
    help me out with that.

    Is one like WM7, the other WM8 and WM9?
